Employment Partners’ Plan of Action

At a meeting of Leyton's employment service providers

As the Leyton ward resident ‘Community Champion’ for jobs it is my role to act as a link between local people and the service providers who deliver Leyton’s employment services. In advance of the second residents’ employment ‘action partnership’ meeting on the 27th of February – which will gather local people’s views and opinions on current employment issues facing Leyton – representatives of all the major service providers – including Job Centre Plus, O-Regen, the ‘Step’ Youth and Construction Project, Team Leyton and the probation service – got together to see how they can work in a more joined up way.

All of these organisations are providing valuable employment related services for Leyton’s residents -be that through, for example, helping them find full or part-time work, providing free CV writing courses or funding local business start ups.

As is often the case, however, many of the services provided by one organisation are unwittingly duplicated by another. This meeting gave the providers the chance to explain to each other just what exactly their organisations do. Now we hope that when they all come together to meet residents at future employment ‘action partnership’ meetings there will be less confusion.

The next meeting of the residents’ employment ‘action partnership’ is at 6.30pm on Tuesday 27th February at the Score Building, 100 Oliver Rd. Any resident living in Leyton ward is welcome to attend.
