Jon Cruddas comes to Waltham Forest!

Jon Cruddas speaks to a selection of Waltham Forest Labour party members and friends

Jon Cruddas was up the road in Chingford on Friday night, as the Guest Speaker at Chingford and Woodford Green Labour Party’s latest, fantastic ‘Hot Buffet Supper’.

Jon joined a host of Labour party members and non-Labour party members from all over Chingford and Woodford Green, Walthamstow, and Leyton and Wanstead, to raise funds and to talk to people about his campaign to become Deputy Leader of the Labour Party.

Waltham Forest turns out for Cruddas

I was chuffed that Jon has finally brought his superb Deputy Leadership campaign to Waltham Forest. Although we haven’t yet managed to get him down to Leyton, it was great to welcome him to our borough.

As you can see from the picture above, Friday’s turn out was excellent.

Chingford and Woodford Green currently has no Labour MP so hosts Carolyn and Giles Brown were really pleased to see so many Chingford members present and enjoying themselves.

Jon with me, Jane Duran and Jennette Arnold

One of the best things about the evening, for me, was that many of my friends and colleagues finally got a chance to meet Jon in the flesh, and find out for themselves why he has become increasingly popular as he travels around the country campaigning for the Labour Party Deputy Leadership.

As regular readers of this website will know, I have been a committed fan of the Cruddas campaign ever since Jon formally declared his intention to run, back in October (I attended his campaign launch).

Above, Jon and I are pictured with Jane Duran, Leyton and Wanstead Constituency Labour Party’s Agent (pictured right of me) and Waltham Forest’s superb Labour Member of the London Assembly, Jennette Arnold (pictured above far right).

Jon with by election candidate Gerry Lyons

Jon also got an opportunity to wish Gerry Lyons, Labour’s council by election candidate in Chingford Green ward, (pictured above with Jon), good luck. The Chingford Green ward by election takes place on Thursday April 26th. Good luck, Gerry! 🙂

Carolyn Brown with her superb selection of cakes!!!!!

But, however wonderful I may think Jon Cruddas is, he’ll never be as wonderful as – yes, girls – CAKE!!!!!!

Hostess Carolyn Brown (pictured above) stunned us all with her selection of cakes and desserts. Incredibly, while I’m still burning baked beans aged nearly 29, Carolyn somehow managed to bake every single one of the gorgeous creations, you see above, herself. Amazing 🙂

Thanks to Carolyn and the Chingford and Woodford Green Labour Party for hosting a lovely, lovely evening.

Cake, Comrades and Cruddas all in one evening?

What more could this Leyton girl want? 🙂

  1. I like Jon. Whilst I may not agree with everything he says he is such a down to earth, really nice guy that has a genuine passion for labour and politics.

  2. Glad to hear it, my dear 🙂 How are you doing? Hope you’re enjoying your new role as Chair of the Labour Club. Looking forward to December when you’ve promised to start blogging again! Take care. M

  3. Jon is certainly a really awesome guy. Met him few years back and he has always been a really good, down to earth guy.
