Leyton residents concerned about crime and community safety, will be pleased to know that I am now doing a regular monthly joint surgery with the fantastic Leyton Safer Neighbourhoods Police Team.
The new surgeries are being held on every fourth Saturday of the month at the usual venue, the Class Education Centre near Leyton Asda.
Saturday’s first joint surgery was a huge success. Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Azhar Choudhry (pictured above right talking to a local Leyton resident) and colleague Jon Barclay went down a storm with local residents – people were really pleased to see Jon and Azhar – whom they know very well – working alongside me, their local Leyton ward councillor.
It was also great to do my surgery outside in the fresh air (rather than couped up inside an anonymous building) and meet local residents who weren’t expecting to see me.
I would thoroughly recommend this kind of surgery to any other councillors reading this. Doing your surgery outside is much more fun!
Thanks so much again to the Leyton Safer Neighbourhoods Team.
I am very much looking forward to next month’s joint Leyton ward police and councillor surgery 🙂
