Happy 70th Birthday, Diane Abbott!

A massive HAPPY 70th BIRTHDAY to the Queen of Hackney, political icon, fearless Maroon leader, mentor, friend and the first Black woman elected to the British House of Commons: the Right Honourable Diane Abbott MP!!

For more than 36 years, Diane – who turned 70 on the 27th of September – has represented the constituency of Hackney and Stoke Newington with aplomb.

She has always ensured that her office is staffed with brilliant people like who really care about Diane’s constituents and go the extra mile for the most vulnerable. When I worked at Hackney Community Law Centre, Diane and her staff gave the Centre huge support and still do so up to the present day.

For more than 20 years, on a personal and political level, Diane has also been a solid, dependable, and loyal friend to me in the darkest of times. Unlike so many other politicians who run away at the first sight of trouble, Diane sticks by her friends. She is a REAL ONE in every possible way.

I feel honoured to have been invited to celebrate with Diane, in Hackney, among so many of her longtime supporters and friends.

Happy Birthday, Diane.

We love you.
