Marsh Lane Fields get a Summer Clean Up

Marsh Lane Clean Up Day Advert

This morning, myself and Lea Bridge Councillor Masood Ahmad joined volunteers from the ‘Friends of Marsh Lane Fields’ group to carry out a summer clean up of the fields.

We spent three hours at the fields, clearing rubbish, removing broken glass and generally making the fields a cleaner, greener place to be.

By the end of the ‘litter pick’ we’d filled up twenty sacks worth of refuse bags and removed a trolley load of abandoned wood!

The fields now looks lovely but how long will they stay that way?

Lea Bridge ward Councillor Masood Ahmad and I will be pushing for better ‘no litter’ signage and more bins.

We will also be contacting the Head Teacher at nearby Lammas school, to discuss involving its students in projects to preserve this beautiful conservation area.

For more information about the work of the ‘Friends of Marsh Lane Fields’ contact Mark Blaxall on 07951 439 538 or at m.blaxall@btcv.org.uk
