Stella Creasy, a good friend and former local Councillor for neighbouring Lea Bridge ward, is organising a special event for children from Walthamstow and their families, this coming Bank Holiday Monday, between 2pm and 5pm, at the Harmony Hall, Truro Rd, E17.
The event entitled ‘Our Children, Our Future’ has been organised in conjunction with Unison and the West Walthamstow Labour party, to look at how local residents can better support the achievements of Walthamstow’s chidlren.
Monday’s event will be addressed by Government Minister for Family Justice Harriet Harman MP; Walthamstow’s fab MP Neil Gerrard; and Kate Green from the Child Poverty Action Group.

FAO Miranda Grell. Hello I wonder if you could help me?I am wanting to start art sessions for families at Walthamstow Toy library and Play centre ( at Comely bank). To do so I have been applying for grants. I noted that the feedback form form the ‘Our children, Our Future” event addressed a lack of arts services in our area. I am looking for comments from councilors about the need for a provision of art activities in Walthamstow. Also any comments on the Toy library and its provsion. It would strengthen my applications for grants. Have you an opininon on arts activities/ or other services for under 5’s and their siblings ( under 8 years) in Walthamstow? Or, do you know of any other councillors that may have made comment?In fact, anything that is related thta might help me. I am happy to give any further details about my project if it will help with my query.

Hi Lesley, I have contacted my councillor colleagues in Walthamstow and asked them to respond to you about this. Obviously I am not a Walthamstow councillor but work closely with my colleagues that are. Hopefully, one of them will get back to you asap. If not, please let me know and I will chase them for you!
